Intercom systems are an excellent way to communicate with your family, eliminating the need to raise your voice. However, they've long been reputed as costly to install and expand. Luckily, if you have a Homes of Tomorrow installed OnQ Greyfox Structured Wiring Distribution System in place or are in the process of installing one, there's no need to run new cables or wires in order to establish an intercom system in your home. The Greyfox Intercom System is an expandable broadcast system that will allow you to talk from any unit to all others in the home. The Cat. 5 Intercom 4-Room Kit includes the Cat. 5 Intercom Module that installs in and integrates with any Greyfox enclosure and serves as the central hub for the system, the Main Console Unit, three Room Units, and a Door Unit, as well as a Door Chime so that every connected room in the house will receive a personal alert when a visitor arrives.

The Cat. 5 Intercom Module and Main Console Unit are the central components of the Greyfox Intercom System, which will support up to 12 indoor locations, up to three door locations, and one main location. Additional indoor Room Units and Door Units In addition to standard system features like Talk, Door, and volume control, the 3-gang Main Console Unit features LED status indicators, which show such system activity as mute, monitor, or in-use. Additional features include a dedicated door-release button and a dedicated talk hands-free button. The Main Console Unit is installed in a standard 3-gang box and is trimmed out with a standard 3-gang decorator wallplate.

Each Cat. 5 Intercom Room Unit provides hands-free intercom communication, monitoring, and mute in any room. The Room Unit offers local control of mute and monitor functions. The mute button ensures privacy when needed, while the monitor function comes in handy for families with sleeping children. Calls from the Main Console can be answered hands-free, so you won't need to dash across the room when you're being summoned. You can even answer the door from any Room Unit. Additional features include 64-step volume control and a separate microphone and speaker. The high-quality speaker and microphone provide superior sound quality.

The Room Units control the Door Unit, so visitors can enjoy hands-free communication through a high-quality, weather-resistant speaker that delivers a crisp, clear sound. The Cat. 5 Intercom Door Unit mounts in a standard 2-gang weatherproof box next to your door.

The Cat. 5 Intercom Door Chime enables the Greyfox Intercom System to play an audible doorbell tone when a visitor pushes the doorbell button on the Door Unit. Separately note sequences for each door in the system can play with CD-quality sound reproduction. The Door Chime provides one-, two-, and three-tone chime options. Installation is performed by plugging the Door Chime board into the Door Chime socket on the back of the Intercom Module and securing two hex nuts (included).

The Greyfox Intercom System interfaces with telephone, audio, and camera monitoring systems for added features. For instance, if you have cat. 5 security cameras installed, you can view real-time video using a 3.5-Inch LCD/Flat Panel Color Display .

The Greyfox Cat. 5 Intercom 4-Room Kit is also available with an shiny brass door unit .

Optional Setup Options:

  1. Add Audio: Add the OnQ Cat5 Audio System - Install in the same wall box as the Intercom, and you now have your intercom, and audio controls in the same location. This setup automatically mutes the music when someone uses the intercom.
  2. Add Video Entry: Add the OnQ Video LCD Kit , and any Security Camera, and View the Front Door/Backdoor from upto 2 locaions in your home for a complete Video Entry Intercom Setup.
