Ken Simon:  Saxophonist-Flutist-Composer, born in New York,

  • Appeared both as a leader and side man performing jazz standards and originals in the U.S., the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
  • After receiving a B.A. from Long Island University,
  • Taught in the New York City School system and currently teaches privately.
  • Ken studied with Michael Solis, Lee Konitz, Jaki Byard, and the world renowned instructor, Joe Allard.
  • Ken's performed with noted luminaries, Cecil Taylor, Rashied Ali, Machito, Baba Olatunji, Rev. Ike, Eartha Kitt, Jerry Vale, Jason Alexander and many others.

Ken has performed overseas on two continents. Journeying regularly to Japan performing at concert halls, clubs in Tokyo and Nagoya. Also performed in Germany, Holland, Sweden, Poland, Malaysia and South Korea.

Mr. Simon received a grant from the American Music Center for composition and received many grants from the Meet The Composer organization to perform new works in the jazz idiom. He has performed special services for the community through Hospital Audiences (HAI). Other venues include The American Theater Wing and the Brooklyn Arts Council. He is a member of ASCAP.

Ken Simon can also be heard on, "THE TWILIGHT OF TIME" (CADENCE), "THE LAST RETREAT" (A BRAY), and "KARA SUITE" (MUSTEVIC). Ken's "Four Corners" composition can be heard on "MIDNIGHT CANDIES" (ENJA). Alan Jones of One Final Note says: "Ken Simon has something special to offer."
